Enjoying a bitches brew waiting on 60 min. IPA battered fish and chips.
I just deleted my facebook account. At home we got rid of cable/satellite tv. We are still connected to the world in every other way, but we've become more selective about our consumption I suppose. My generation may be the last one to escape from the severe attention deficit disorder that results from now ubiquitous overly communicative technologies. Multitasking is an
imaginary fictional mythical creature* that was birthed by marketing geniuses at multinational software conglomerates. Unless you are one of the minuscule minority of savants capable of defocused neural multiprocessing at the conscious level you can't do more than one thing at a time. We are all doing
subconscious processing of some small percentage of the sensory data that we are inundated with every day, but that's something different. That's part of the same problem I mentioned before. In order to lead a more peaceful life I've found it necessary to filter the incoming information as much as possible - down to only the most essential, local, and immediate stream possible. This is not to say that I have become antisocial. Quite the opposite, actually. I relish face-to-face encounters with friends, family, and strangers. As always I encourage you to reach out, send me a letter, call me on the telephone, come and knock on my door. Together we might walk on the
concrete concrete and pick the flower instead of looking at it on a screen.
